It's Hammertime!

We got the Building Permit and we promised the grand kids they could be the first ones to swing the hammers. They had a great time and I think they'll always remember the school this way. They rode their bikes in the garage and all around the hallways. Those bike helmets came in handy when the swingin' began!

So, I Almost Cut Off My Finger

I've been a Substitute Teacher now for about 4 years. I have had two injuries during the past four years. Both were at school. Thank goodness for Work Med and School Insurance !

I can't say that I am the most graceful person in the land, but freaky accidents happen to me every once in a while.

Both accidents involved teaching Special Ed Students.............. maybe I should switch to the Choir Classes.................

Isn't this lovely? Sorry the photos are a little out of focus. I can't get the camera to take a clear shot when working so close up to the subject. Oh, well............deal with it! :)

This is the culprit. It's the changing table in the Special Ed. Bathroom at Parkside Elementary.
I have used this at least 10times in the past. But this time................WHACK.........

I unhooked the silver latch and started to pull down the seat part. Didn't realize my finger was right where it shouldn't be. The other teacher I was with said "oh, I've pinched my finger on that dang thing before"........I of course, think that I've just pinched the pad part. But NO!............the metal sliced right through the top of my fingernail and into my finger. The leg had snapped up and caught my finger, Nail-side down, between the leg and that hollow square VERY SHARP area...............

The Doctor gave me the choice to remove the outer part of my fingernail and then she could put stitches in the nailbed, which would reconnect the fingertip..........OUCH! NOT an option!
I figured she could use the steri-strips and I'll let the nail fall off by itself it's due time!
The finger doesn't hurt, just in case you're wondering.
I also went roller skating with Cortanie on Monday, fell and bruised my tail bone! Another freaky accident! I was standing still when my skate went out from under me and down I went.
The pain in the *** hurts worse than the finger! :)
**Can't tell you why there's so much space left at the bottom of this post........I've tried to fix it at least 5 times and I've just given up ** Again, Deal with it :)

So, Today I Went to a Tea Party

You probably think I've gone Mad! First the
Sean Hannity Show at Borders and now a
Tea Party at the Capitol Building!

I really wanted to see what all the hullabalo was about! It was pretty exciting! It started with the Star Spangled Banner, the Pledge of Alliegence and a Prayer! Now that's pretty dangerous isn't it? It was awesome when the National Anthem was sung and there was a light breeze blowing the flags. A lot of us were crying.......... I know, I'm a big baby!
I had a long conversation with the guy in the black shirt. I think he was the only black guy in the entire group.........any way, he said he thinks that most black people are actually quite conservative and that many of his friends are well educated and have been able to see right through all the Radical Crap and that Obama is the worst thing that could ever have happened to this Country. He used to live in France and was not impressed with their culture or way of life. He's only been in Utah for a while but he really likes it here!

Emily has "tagged" Me

Go to Emily's Blog/Jacobs Five and see what she has done to me! Good thing she's the favorite!

My Favorite Room is the living room because this is where the family gathers when we're all together. It's also usually the room which stays clean during the week. Which when you think too deeply means that we're not all together as often as we should be.
We need a party!
Let's fill this room to capacity!

The Closet
Well, here is only part of the closet. The rest is all too shocking, but in the interest of being a good sport, I have included at least this one shot!
The Laundry Room
Domestic Goddess that I am, I really hate doing the laundry. Emily says she loves it. Well, she can have it. Even with two dryers and just the two of us at home these days, the laundry piles up and I have a hard time bringing myself to gitter' done! The burn marks on the ironing board is either an indication of my cheap cover and skimpy pad or are a clear representation of my ironing skills
Status of Kitchen Sink......oddly enough, just before I opened Emily's Blog and realized I was now on the tag list. I had just cleaned the sink and washed the dishes. Good thing, because it was not a pretty sight.
Fridge Outside and then Fridge Inside
Notice the take-out boxes. One advantage of being on a "diet" is that you eat part of the meal and bring home the rest. That's like getting two meals in one........that's how we justify eating out, right? There IS a package of steak in there. We'll be cookin' that up tonight with some peppers, onions, and zucchini! Hmmmmmm.......good!

The next assignment is to photograph my favorite shoes. I have at least 10 pair of favorite shoes, but we'll use these as my most favorite.
They're from Charolette Russe and I love to wear them, but after three hours at Church, including dancing around in Primary, they're not the most favorite to wear!

The Bathroom

The Bathroom is next on the list: Today as a matter of fact, we just redecorated one of the bathrooms. so here are two pictures of the new more masculine guest bath. The floor tiles are peel off and we got them at Family Dollar. Shower curtain and rugs are from K-Mart. We really went all out with this re-do!

Okay, a post which is supposed to give one who reads it, insight about the author, would not be complete if I didn't include a photo of Johnny Depp. I'll resist the opportunity to post a self-portrait as was requested by the game of "blogger tag", and instead treat you and your eyes to an oh-so-hunky photo of my favorite actor.
In doing so, I can now tell you what my children are doing right now.
They're rolling their eyes and saying something like............."mom, you're so strange/weird/crazy/ridiculous" or another similar adjective. So there you have it Emily, I believe all of your tag requests have been met.
(well without the self-portrait...but THIS is so much better)

Trip to Wyoming

We just got back from Boulder Wyoming! We stayed at a Llama Ranch owned by Al and Sondra Ellis. They started out with 5 Llamas back in the late 1980s and now have 187 animals. They are beautiful and you just want to reach out and give 'em a big hug. While that's tempting, you don't want to do it! They might spit on you. (That's the Llamas who spit, NOT the Ellises...tee-hee) In spite of that fact, we think EVERYONE should take a back-packing trip with your own guide aka. Sherpa.

These mostly white Llamas are some of "The Girls" and the photo below them are a few of "The Boys"

This guy's name is "Tony"........get it................Tony Llama?

This is Mr. Ellis. He has a great smile! He LOVES Wyoming and his Llamas.

This is their
"Ranch House".
They put us up for the night and gave us breakfast and lunch.

They treated us like Royalty, and yet we felt like family.

They're very hospitable and it was a very productive meeting. We're so anxious to finally REALLY get going with this project. We've been working on this Cosmotology and Barbering School for almost a year! We know their building here in Murray is the best place to be and we're excited that THEY think so, too. I think it is definitely a turning point for ALL of us! Yay!

It's Birthday Time.......AGAIN !

It's the big 57 for Craig..............Matty came up with this Moniker for Papa's Birthday this year. She's so clever! I remember when MY dad turned 50 and I thought he was soooooooo old ! Where has the time gone?
Now dad can play all those strange 45s. Everyone enjoyed listening to "Masters of the Universe" and "Dust in the Wind" all scratchy and wonderful! Ah.... the olden days!
As is usually the case at the Jacobs Parties, the kids were dressed in costume. There were Pirates, and Kings, Clowns, Old-Lady-Policemen, Wigged Fire-fighters and a few odd undefinable creatures scattered everywhere. We wouldn't have it any other way! Cortanie's face pretty much says it all, I think.
We enjoyed pizza from "The Pie" and of course a cake from Leslies and a couple dozen cupcakes with chocolate frosting for those of us who don't care for 5 layers of goo!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Where does time go? He's so darn cute! Well, aren't they all. I'll let Emily post his cute photos, but everyone wish him a Happy Birthday!

Happy New Year !

We were driving home from Kanab and we saw several Bald Eagles. Here's one we were actually able to get a photograph of. He was tricky and watched us very closely. It was hard to drive away from him. I wanted to get a better shot, but we got a couple.

Happy Holi-DAZE

We've survived Thanksgiving and now it's on to Christmas! We are looking forward to having everyone come to the Annual Christmas Party and hope you all enjoyed your DVD of the past 15 years.........give or take a few.........Here are some "stills" from 2008. They didn't make the DVD because it's not a video !

The Brownings are coming up in a few days.............enjoy this photo of them at the Waffle House last season.

I'm Going to Get You, My Pretty

This is what the cub scouts had to face last night!

Here's what we're taking to the "Trunk-or-Treat & Chili-Dessert-Bake-Off" tonight.
I call it "Vomit Volcano Cake"..........it's really a spice cake with caramel pecan frosting............yummy !

California Memories

We had a super time, in spite of the drizzle of rain for 3 days. We met "Freddie Ipson" aka, Brandon, for lunch and he took us out to the Santa Monica Pier, where we tried to embarrass him with our yellow rain slickers. He doesn't embarrass easily, so our efforts were in vain. We had a great time with him and he's doing well.

We have over 200 photos....but I'll let The Brownings put some on their blog! Yeah, that's gonna happen!

Lemerado Days

We only have a few photos of the festivities. The Program was REEEEALY short and suprisingly good! There's a new gal in town who teaches Drill at Delta High School and she had a few groups of her students perform some cute dances. It also appears that there are some new talented people who have moved in to Leamington and they're pretty good singers.
:-)Next year, Nick and Emily are going to sing a duet of love songs from the 8O's. Maybe the theme from Xanadu and they'll perform it while skating on the stage.

Gabe and Zach are playing with "Lenny". The newest "grand-puppy".

Cortanie picked up a new family member. Nick said she's always been known as the "crazy dog lady", so why not add another one? (that black dog is Lenny's mother)

More Summertime Antics

We took the Browning Kids on a hike to "Lisa Falls" which is where we used to take our own 4 kids every once in a while..... we loved it! It was a little sad though to see these, the 2nd generation of "wee ones". It seems that just yesterday, it WAS our four wee ones throwing water at each other and getting the gigles. Where does time go?
After the falls, we drove up to Snowbird and rode the tram up to the very top of the Mountain, hiked down a bit, crossed over a small glacier, and rode the ski lift back down. It was pretty scary if you looked down. We made a point of looking OUT instead of DOWN.

To quote Mataline; "This is the best day of my life! We need to do this every summer ! Let's make it a new tradition." (now you have to scroll over to turn off my music--and look at photos)
